Ed and Dottie Forbes Ė Overseeing Ministries

Ed Forbes has been a commissioned ministry in the Living Word Fellowship since the mid 1970ís. He and his wife Dottie currently serve as the overseeing ministries of Grants Pass Community where they were first sent to pastor by John Robert Stevens in April of 1976. Ed and Dottie lived in Grants Pass with their family until 1991, when they moved to Iowa to function as part of the pastoral team in Shiloh and oversee Marilyn Farms Company, a church owned farm and health-products company. During their time of ministry and residence at Shiloh, however, the church community at Grants Pass was never far from their hearts. While living in Iowa, Ed and Dottie travelled to Oregon several times a year to minister to the church at Grants Pass and to other groups of believers throughout the northwestern United States. They also hosted many camping trips for students from Centers of Learning in Los Angeles. Ed and Dottie continued to work with Grants Pass Community Church from a distance, serving as overseeing ministries to those leading the church until the summer of 2011 when they returned permanently to Grants Pass to minister to the church community they had started 20 years earlier.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Ed is also a key member of the staff of Shiloh University serving as an academic dean and a trustee.

Before becoming a full-time minister, Ed was employed as a special agent with the FBI, director of training for the Central Oregon Law Enforcement Planning Agency, a professor of criminology at Central Oregon Community College, and special agent for the U.S. Forest Service. He holds a bachelorís degree in history from William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri, and a Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, North Kansas City, Missouri.

Dottie grew up on a farm in Missouri where she learned the value and enjoyment of working with her hands at a young age. After teaching grade school for four years, she spent the following years raising two sons, being a homemaker, and ministering alongside Ed. As a mother in the Grants Pass church, she imparts her work ethic, dedication, and love for the family to others. Dottie holds a bachelorís degree in secondary education from William Jewell College.
